The People’s Party of Canada has candidates running in both local ridings in the federal election.
Jeremy Gustafson is flying the PPC banner in Cariboo-Prince George and Ryan Dyck is running in the Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies riding. Neither responded to a request from the Citizen for an interview.
Gustafson’s bio on the PPC website says he is a second-generation Vancouver Islander, who was born in Victoria and raised in Campbell River.
“(Gustafson) was a PPC founding member, served as the financial agent for his local EDA, and in 2019 ran as the PPC candidate in the island riding of Esquimalt-Saanich-Sooke,” his online bio says.
He previously ran as an independent candidate in the 2013 provincial election and as a Your Political Party candidate in 2016. In 2014, he ran as a Cedar Party candidate in the Vancouver municipal election.
Dyck owns a construction company in Fort St. John.
“I love this nation and am ready to stand firm as your representative and fight to keep this nation True Strong and Free,” his online bio says. “I believe that we need to stand in honour of many that have risked and even lost their lives to purchase freedom for us. Freedom has never been free, we must stand for it.”
The People’s Party of Canada was founded in 2018 by former Conservative Party leadership candidate Maxime Bernier. The party lost its only seat in the House of Commons in the 2019 federal election, drawing 1.62 per cent of the popular vote.
